Accessibility

Last Updated: September 21, 2026

Where we are

We are improving accessibility across Strua's website and app, using WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our target. We have not yet achieved full conformance, and we would rather tell you that plainly than claim more than is true.

Strua was built for moments when thinking clearly is hard. That makes access part of the product itself.

What works today

  • Every page on this website has a skip link and a main content landmark, and the app does too.
  • Text, buttons and links on every page of this website, and on the app's main screens and exercises, passed an automated contrast and structure check (axe, WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules) on September 21, 2026, at desktop and phone sizes.
  • Tool cards, checklists, settings switches and pop-up windows can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and they report their name and state to a screen reader. Pop-up windows keep keyboard focus inside them.
  • Grounding exercises announce each new prompt, and both breathing guides announce each phase.
  • Links inside text are underlined, so colour is never the only thing marking them.
  • If your device asks for reduced motion, Strua respects it.

What we know still falls short

  • An automated check finds only some accessibility problems. We have not yet tested Strua ourselves with a screen reader such as VoiceOver or NVDA, and no independent audit has been done.
  • On about a third of this website's pages the headings skip a level, which makes jumping between sections by heading less predictable.
  • On small screens, this website's navigation links appear in the footer rather than in a menu at the top.
  • Some buttons in the app are smaller than the 44 pixel size we aim for, though on every screen we checked they meet the 24 pixel minimum.

We update this list as items are fixed or found.

If something gets in your way

Email hello@strua.app and tell us which page or feature was involved. Please leave out sensitive health information; we do not need it to help. We will work with you to provide access while we address the issue.

If you need support right now, our crisis resources page is always free and does not require an account.

Strua is a self-guided wellness tool designed by a licensed clinical psychologist. It is not a medical device, does not provide therapy, and is not a substitute for professional mental health care. If you are in crisis, please call 988 (US) or visit our crisis resources. Outside the US?
